RobertDouglas Advises AutoCamp in Strategic Capital Raise with Whitman Peterson
San Francisco, CA – January 31, 2019 – RobertDouglas announced today that it advised AutoCamp in their selection of Whitman Peterson as a strategic capital and growth partner. Under the agreement, Whitman Peterson, a real estate private equity company specializing in helping drive growth of target sector platforms, has led a dedicated capital commitment of $115 million focused on acquiring and redeveloping properties for AutoCamp’s expansion. As part of the transaction, Whitman Peterson has also invested in the AutoCamp operating company.
AutoCamp, headquartered in San Francisco, California, has developed an outdoor hospitality experience for people who love nature while still addressing their need for proper amenities and the luxury of a seamless hospitality experience. Founded by Neil Dipaola and Ryan Miller, AutoCamp’s portfolio consists of two properties in Russian River and Santa Barbara, a property in Yosemite under development, and a robust pipeline of future locations nationwide.
“AutoCamp is a major player in the outdoor hospitality space, and we truly believe that their product is one-of-a-kind and is quickly changing how travelers think about traditional lodging options,” notes Lindsey Whang, Senior Associate at RobertDouglas. “Whitman Peterson’s deep experience and asset management expertise combined with AutoCamp’s entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach to hospitality creates a powerful partnership poised for rapid growth in an exciting and emerging sector of the industry,” said Robert Stiles, Managing Director and Principal of RobertDouglas.
Dedicated capital provided by Whitman Peterson will give AutoCamp the ability to develop over $500 million in projects. The partnership has already closed on their first venture, the development of AutoCamp Yosemite. Situated a short drive from the gates of Yosemite National Park, the property will include 105 luxury Airstreams and tents and is slated to open the first quarter of 2019.
